the Zilber & Me |
 |
Ariel Zilber was not just your typical drugs-sex-rock'n'roll star. Coming from an iconic musical family, he revolutionized Israeli music with his offbeat melodies and eccentric behavior. When he dumped Israel's most important supergroup (Tamuz were the Israeli Rolling Stones...), against all odds, he became the no. 1 rock-star of the era after the Yom-Kippur war. Then things began to change… He got married and had a son, but soon after got divorced, and wandered from relationship to relationship. Ariel began to search for meaning in his life.
Flash forward. Roy Zilber, his son, remembers how awkward it was to be the estranged son of a rock-star. He gives up a musical career and decides to switch to film, behind the camera. Only now, his Dad has a full grown Rabbi beard, prays daily and is quoted to support the messiah movement and right wing politics. He still performs with his old songs, but is viewed upon as a weirdo who lost it... Ironically, he is now willing to embrace his son. The rift between them was always vast, but now they have a chance to close the gap and bond through the only common language they have: Music.
